I met Louise Graff when I was 36 years old. She was a lovely, elderly Catholic lady living in a small apartment in Hinsdale, Illinois U.S.A. My husband was the pastor of the LaGrange Assemblies of God Church which she often attended.
Louise was so sweet and so eager to learn about Jesus and I found her a delight. One day I went to visit in her tiny apartment, and during the conversation asked how she had become a born again believer. “It was a miracle,” she said.
Her husband had died and she was so sad, lonely and grief stricken for months. One bright morning she looked out her door and saw a little bird tapping on the sidewalk. When she opened the door it did not fly away. It just kept tapping on the walk. She stood amazed that the tiny thing did not fly away, but persistently continued to tap the walk.
Finally she said, “You’re trying to tell me something.” What are you trying to tell me and instantly these words came into her mind, “Read the bible, read the bible, read the bible”. She was so excited, got the family bible out and started to read it. The rest is history. Louise read the scriptures and discovered a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus her Saviour and Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. She said she was never lonely again. Jesus filled her with hope and joy.
Today Louise is with the Lord and I am so grateful that God sent a tiny bird to tell her how to find Him. Yes Louise, it was a MIRACLE !!!!!
